Meitar Ensemble announces the 11th Matan Givol International Composers Competition:

Composers from all over the world are invited to submit works for Meitar Ensemble.
The competition is an open call for composers of all ages and nationalities.

I. Prize for the winning Compositions

  • The winning piece will be performed and live recorded in a concert on 26.12.26 at the Tel Aviv Jaffa Music Center, with conductor Pierre-André Valade and the Meitar ensemble.

  • Prize - 3000 euros (gross sum).

II. Conditions for entry and application

  • There are no age limit or nationality restrictions for composers.

  • Instruments: The compositions submitted for the competition must be written for 5-14 instruments from the following (One each unless otherwise indicated): Flute (doubling piccolo, alto flute and bass flute), oboe (doubling english horn), clarinet (doubling bass clarinet), bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, 2 violins, viola, cello, contrabass, piano and percussion.

  • Basic set of percussion: Snare drum, bass drum, vibraphone, marimba 5 octaves, cymbals. Any addition of instruments should be discussed and approved by the ensemble in advance.

  • Usage of prepared piano should be discussed and approved by the ensemble in advance.

  • No usage of additional instruments (instruments which are not on the list, electronics, etc.) is allowed.

  • Scores submissions is posiible via email only. Scores will not be accepted if they do not meet the conditions for entry.

  • The works duration must be between 8 to 15 minutes.

  • Pieces that have won awards in other competitions will not be accepted, nevertheless, pieces subjected to the competition are not obliged to be new compositions.

  • The jury’s decision is final and cannot be legally challenged. Furthermore, the jury reserves the right to award no prize.

  • The results of the Competition will be announced on the web site www.meitar.net and the social networks no later than September 21st 2026.

  • Deadline for entries: The scores, the registration application and the enclosed documents must be sent no later than September 1st 2026 (23:59 Jerusalem time) to the following email address: ceme.meitarensemble@gmail.com

A COMPLETE APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  1. A full online application form (see at bottom of the page)

  2. Score (in PDF format) to be submitted using pseudonym (the committee will not receive the participants names) + short description of the work

    • Anonymous recording or MIDI simulation of the submitted composition - recommended

  3. An artistic and academic curriculum

  4. A copy of the entry fee payment document (see below)


Deadline for submission of complete applications:

september 1st 2026 (23:59 Jerusalem Time)


III. Entry Fee

The composition must be submitted along with an entry fee of 150 NIS ( = 40 Euros).

The sum should be paid via the following link:

  • A copy of the payment document must be included with the application.

  • The entry fees are non-refundable.

IV. Meitar Ensemble will not be able to consider works that do not conform to the guidelines outlined above

V. Participation in the Competition implies the unconditional acceptance of this announcement, as well as consent for the use of the contestant’s personal data (name, nationality, age, cv, etc). Submissions, which do not meet the conditions or deadlines specified above, will not be considered
