Tehila Goldstein Nini Soprano
The young soprano Tehila Nini Goldstein, who was born in New York and grew up in Israel, is a much sought after soloist and passionate chamber musician. Her repertoire includes classical opera as well as baroque, contemporary and Israeli music in particular. She has won the Tel Aviv Music Academy Singing Competition, received the America Israel Cultural Foundation "Scholarship for Studies in Israel and abroad" and was awarded first prize in the prestigious "Liederkranz Foundation" competition.
In spring 2009, she gave her very successful debut with William Christie and his ensemble Les Arts Florissants in the academy of Le Jardin des Voix, for which the most promising talents are carefully selected from a long list of newcomers. She performed with this project at the Barbican Center, Berlin Philharmonie, Cité de la musique Paris, Den Norske Opera Oslo, Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Palau de la musica Barcelona, Grand Théâtre de Aix-en-Provence and at the Alice Tully Hall New York. The semi-staged program of arias by Purcell, Monteverdi, Rameau, Rossi, Caccini and Carissimi received great acclaim from critics and audience alike. Also in 2009, she was invited by Dawn Upshaw and Osvaldo Golijov to a training programme at the Carnegie Hall. There she also performed works by the composer Matti Kovler.
Her repertoire includes Mozart roles, such as Pamina ("The Magic Flute"), Zerlina ("Don Giovanni"), Susanna ("Le Nozze di Figaro"), Mademoiselle Silberklang ("The Impresario"), Fiordiligi and Despina ("Così fan tutte") as well as Rossini's Semiramide, Händel's Alcina, Purcell's Belinda ("Dido and Aeneas"), Pergolesi's Serpina ("La serva Padrona"), Giulietta from Bellini's "I Capuleti e i Montecchi" and Donizetti's Norina ("Don Pasquale"). Mahler's "Symphony No. 4", Berlioz' "Les nuits d'été", Monteverdi's "Book 7" and Händel's "Armida abandoned" form part of her concert repertoire.
Tehila Nini Goldstein studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University and with the soprano Efrat Ben-Nun. She also worked with the vocal coaches David Jones and Patricia McCaffrey in New York as well as Abbie Formansky and John Norris in Berlin. During her membership in the "Ankor" choir during her childhood, she sang under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Kurt Masur and Zubin Mehta. Thereafter, she has appeared in performances throughout Europe, Israel and North America with well-known orchestras, among these the New York's National Opera Center Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and the Israel Chamber Orchestra. She has worked with Hartmut Höll, Hilde Zadek, Mira Zakai, Dawn Upshaw and Zeheva Gal.
Tehila is a Meitar Ensemble member since it's foundation.
