A new CD - featuring music by Arie Shapira

On 30.8 the Meitar Ensemble members finished two days of recording a new CD dedicated to works of award winning Israeli composer Arie Shapira. Out of the eight works featured on the CD, six were written specifically for the ensemble and this is their debut recording. In the previous season (2010-2011) another CD with Shapira’s music performed by the ensemble member and guest musicians was released. It is a live recording of the debut performance of the oratorio “Sacrifice”.
The cooperation between the composer and the ensemble is a long term realationship. Among other projects are the memorial concert in the Wannsee Villa in Berlin and the film made after it; "The Wannsee Recordings", a tour in southern Germany with the composer and the world premiere of the oratorio "Sacrifice," written for the Israel Festival in 1981 and not performed untill September 2009.
The musicians appearing on the CD: Bracha Kol and Asif Am David (singers), Roy Amotz and Hagar Shahal (flute), Gilad Harel (clarinet), Nadav Cohen (bassoon) Moshe Aharonov (violin), Anat Angelmeir and Jonathan Gotlibovitch (cello), Amit Dolberg (piano) and Guy Feder (conductor).
The recordings took place at the Jerusalem Music Center.
