Jonathan Gotlibovitch cello

Cellist Jonathan Gotlibovich has established himself as one of Israel's most distinguished
young cellists. A soloist, a chamber musician and a pedagogue, Gotlibovich has been a
regular member of the Meitar Ensemble since 2009. He has also been the principal cellist of
the Tel Aviv Sololists Ensemble since 2003. He is often featured as soloist with these
Ensembles as well as with other orchestras in Israel.
Mr. Gotlibovich performs in concerts and festivals in Israel and abroad, to name a few: the
Israel Festival, Kfar Blum Festival, Felicia Blumental Festival, Daniel Music Days and
Arthur Rubinstein Festival. Many of those concerts were recorded for television and radio
stations in Israel and Europe. These concerts gave Mr. Gotlibovich the opportunity to play
with some of the leading musicians such as: Shlomo Mintz, Antje weithaas, Rudolf
Koelman, Philippe Entremont and Terje Tonnesen. Mr. Gotlibovich had played recently with
some of the finest chamber groups in Israel including: The New Israeli String Quartet, The
Israel Comtemporary Quartet, The 21st Century Ensemble, Gropius Ensemble and Ensemble
Kapryzma.
With Meitar Ensemble, Gotlibovich performs extensively in Israel and abroad and records
contemporary chamber music. On top of those, Gotlibovich recorded contemporary Cello
sonatas, solo sonatas as well as music for films and classical Hebrew songs with Rafi
Kadishzon, Keren Hadar and some of the finest artists of this genre.
Gotlibovich Teaches Cello and chamber music in The Israeli Music conservatory in Tel-
Aviv, the “Hasadna” Conservatory in Jerusalem, and has also taught at the “Barenboim-
Saed” Music School in Nazereth (2008-2010). He has given music courses and master
classes in Israel and Spain.
Gotlibovich collaborates with his brother, Violist Yuval Gotlibovich in various projects,
Their latest is a screening of the movie “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” accompanied by live
music scored for Viola and Cello composed by Yuval.
Gotlibovich's main teachers are: Zvi Harell and Zvi Plesser, Further studies and master
classes include: Michel Strauss, Boris Pergamenschikow, Janos Starker, Bernard
Greenhouse, Yuri Bashmet and Tabea Zimmerman.
Gotlibovich had recorded with various chamber groups for Hed-Arzi, EnT-T, BTL, IMI, and
Verso.
