The Israeli Music Institute

Throughout the years, since the very beginning of their activity, the Meitar
Ensemble has been working conjointly with the Israeli Music Institute in
mutual support of contemporary Israeli music. During the past two years
the ensemble has been recipient of the support of the IMI in a variety of
projects in Israel and abroad.

An array of pieces that were composed especially for the ensemble have been
published by the IMI. The annual season-opening concert of the institute,
which takes place at the Felicia Blumenthal Music Center in Tel Aviv,
is regularly performed by the Meitar Ensemble and encompasses pieces
published during the past year together with dated Israeli music.

Alongside its goals, the Meitar Ensemble sees it a high calling to bring
forth to the audience pieces by young composers and with special cases have
led to their publication by the IMI. The annual “Israel Music Holiday”,
a festival sponsored by the IMI, hosts among its varied guests the Meitar
Ensemble.

The IMI recorded a CD with the ensemble that was published in 2010 with pieces by composers Erel Paz, Ayal Adler, Yinam Leef
and Hanna Agiashvili. The pieces were all composed for the ensemble and
were premiered at the “Mishkenot Shaananim Music Center” in Jerusalem.

A large scale joint project between the Ensemble and the IMI is the
recording of a cycle of pieces by Israeli composer Mordechai Seter,
"Chamber Music 1970", which will include six pieces for different
chamber ensembles.

In this CD the Ensemble collaborated with Israeli musicians:
- Hillel Zori, Cello;
- Noam Buchman, Flute;
- Gitit Boazson, Harp;
- Dudu Carmel, Oboe.

An additional CD to be published in December 2011 by the IMI will compile pieces by Prof’
Yinam Leef, winner of the 2007 prime minister award for composers.
