Gilad Harel Clarinet

Born in Israel, clarinetist Gilad Harel is an avid chamber music player, a new music promoter and an active klezmer/world/pop music performer.
He has toured with pop singer-song-writer Natalie Merchant, played at the main stage of the Krakow Jewish Culture Festival in Poland, was a part of a two week long festival of Israeli Jazz in New York City, and was invited to open a klezmer performance class at the Jerusalem Academy of Music.
Gilad has collaborated with renowned composers such as Elliott Carter, Salvatore Sciarrino, John Zorn, Mark Andre, Tristan Murail and many others. He was the principal clarinetist and soloist with the Manhattan Sinfonietta, a frequent guest artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, co-artistic director of Fountain Chamber Music Society and artistic advisor and clarinetist of David Greilsammer’s Suedama Ensemble. He is the clarinetist of the "Septeto Roberto Rodriguez" - a band combining Cuban music with klezmer. He is a founding member of the klezmer trio "Klezshop", and was a frequent guest with the Metropolitan Klezmer Orchestra.
Gilad taught at the Juilliard Pre-College Division, and has given master classes and improvisation workshops at numerous colleges and festivals throughout the United States, Europe and Israel.
Gilad is a graduate of the Juilliard School, New York; the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris; and the Israeli Conservatory of Music, Tel-Aviv.
Gilad is a member of the Meitar Ensemble since 2010.
