Amit Landau Viola
Born in Israel in 1976. Studied violin with Mr. Robert Canetti and continued his
studies in viola with Prof. David Hen. A graduate summa cum laude of the Tel-
Aviv Music Academy, where he studied with Prof. Yuri Gandelsman. Played in
the Eastern-Western Divan Orchestra under conductor Daniel Barenboim in
1999 and 2000 . Between 1999-2003 Amit was a member of the Carmel String
Quartet, with whom he won the Thomastik Infeld prize for best interpretation in
the Prague-Vienna-Budapest string quartets competition in Reichenau, Austria
(2001). In 2002-2003 he studied chamber music with the Alban Berg Quartet in
the Hochschule für fufurFFFFFFfurffffffr Musik in Cologne, Germany.
Between 2003-2007 Amit was an assistant principal violist in the Jerusalem
Camerata. Later he joined the Israel String Quartet, with whom he performed
in Israel and Europe, until 2009. With the quartet he recorded a CD with pieces
by Bruckner and Hans Rott for the Dutch label ‘Quintone’ . Today Amit is a
member of ‘Tel-Aviv Soloists’ chamber orchestra. He performs with the Israel
Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and with contemporary
music ensembles, such as 21st Century Ensemble’ and ‘Musica Nova’ and with
various chamber music groups. He participated in many music festivals, among
them Zeister Musikdagen in the Netherlands, and Kfar Blum and Abu Ghosh
festivals in Israel.
Amit has been teaching viola and chamber music in the Barenboim-Said
Conservatory in Nazareth since its establishment in 2007.
Amit Joined the Meitar Ensemble in 2011.
